Auctions In a Day are pleased to announce that they can now help sell your electrical items in a safe and secure environment.
To sell electrical items an auction house is required by law to make sure they are safe. The simplest way to do this is to get them PAT tested. PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) involves visually inspecting the appliance for faults and using equipment to check the insulation and earthing. It helps to identify potential faults, such as faulty wiring, damaged plugs, or insufficient insulation. This gives buyers reassurance that the items meets basic electrical safety requirements. If you work in an office you’ve probably lots of stickers on the plugs of items which have been tested. Places like charity shops are required to test electrical items before they are sold and the same goes for auction houses.
You can get items tested yourself and bring them along. However, we can now also offer PAT testing on the day by a certified tester with professional equipment. We make a small charge for this service of £2 per item which is very reasonable compared to other suppliers. Our testing covers all the basic checks and if the items pass the test we will label them so buyers know that they have been tested.
There are still certain items we can’t accept such as microwaves, oven hobs and anything requiring specialist installation.
As with any business the safety of our customers is crucial and offering this service helps to reduce the risk of accidents caused by faulty equipment.
So, if you have any electrical items gathering dust and you want to convert them into cash please get in touch and bring them along. Also, if you’re looking to safely buy tested electrical items then come along to our auction on Saturday 3rd June at Weeke Community Centre.
